Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Latin pop star's gig at a luxury hotel had triggered anger among Greeks accusing her of according legitimacy to northern Cyprus, a breakaway state recognised only by Ankara.
"Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse," a statement on Lopez's website said. "It was the decision of her advisers to withdraw from the appearance."
Lopez, her husband, singer Marc Anthony, and their two children were to stay at the Cratos Premium Hotel, in a region where thousands of Greek Cypriots were displaced by the Turkish paratroop-led invasion in 1974.
"Her fee had been paid and everything was ready, but ... she was led to believe there was a war going on," said Feza Firat, who represents the hotel. "Several Greek Cypriot families who had made reservations to attend the concert are just as disappointed."
