Two unknown assailants stabbed an office manager for the People's Deputy legislative group in Russia's parliament early on Monday, a police official said.
The two men attacked Viktor Tyukin with knives near the entrance to a building in western Moscow and then ran away, a spokeswoman for Moscow's police department said on condition of anonymity.
Tyukin was hospitalized in critical condition with several stab wounds to his stomach, she said. There was no information on a possible motive.
Tyukin, who is not a legislator himself, worked as the faction's chief of office in Russia's parliament, or State Duma.
