Three other men quizzed in relation to the case were also earlier freed from custody.
A garda spokesman said files were being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Daniel, who was in Health Service Executive care, vanished after socialising with a group of people in Blanchardstown on February 25.
The 17-year-old's body was found dumped in a ditch on farm land in Co Meath on May 13. He died of multiple stab wounds.
