From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The syndicate of 22 Dublin Bus employees won the €23.8 million (£19.9 million) with a ticket bought at at O’Hanlon’s Spar Shop in Portarlington, Co Laois.
Their boss, Gareth Quinn, revealed they were not at the Broadstone depot on Monday.
Each of the men are thought to have been given the day off to celebrate their good luck.
Mr Quinn told the Mirror: “None of them were at work this morning and we’ve got no problem with that. Best of luck to them.”
The National Lottery confirmed the winning ticket holder had made contact with them.
The newly made millionaires celebrated their win by having a meal in one of their favourite pubs, Dublin’s Bachelor Inn.
John Cassidy, a colleague of the syndicate members, said: “We’re delighted for them, absolutely thrilled. It’s just great news.
"Our syndicate had the win on Tuesday. We had four out of the six numbers. We would have won €15m if the six had of come in."
The winning numbers for the jackpot were 2, 11, 13, 40, 50 and the lucky stars were 1 and 10.
The winners were reportedly deciding whether or not to go public with their win.
