From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Robin Mortimer, 58, was discovered on Tuesday in the village of Brecht, near Antwerp, police said.
Two women calling themselves Mistress Lucrezia and Mistress Juno have been arrested on suspicion of assault leading to death, without intending to kill.
The results of a post-mortem examination are expected to shed light on how the married father-of-one died.
A statement released on behalf of Mr Mortimer's family said relatives believed the racing driver died of natural causes in his sleep.
It read: "Robin Peter Mortimer, owner of RPM Motorsport, sadly passed away late on Tuesday June 22, aged 58.
"It is understood that Robin died of natural causes in his sleep at a hotel in Belgium while travelling with his team en route to Spa Francorchamps."
The son of Grand Prix driver Charles Mortimer leaves behind his wife Bridget, known as Biddy, and son, motor racing champion Alex Mortimer, who hopes to compete at the Spa circuit this weekend in honour of his father.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: "We can confirm the death of 58-year-old British man Robin Mortimer near Antwerp on June 22. Next of kin are aware and we are providing consular assistance."
