The man claims he sent the boy outside to clear the snow in northern Sweden as punishment for misbehaving in March 2018, local newspaper Västerbottens-Kuriren reports.
He denied any wrongdoing and said the child, whose exact age was not given in court, refused to put on a coat or shoes.
Despite the fact he wasn’t wearing shoes, the father still made his son carry out the punishment – although the pair were said to have only been outside for about two minutes.
He is reported to have admitted in court that he didn’t show the best judgment, but he said he sent the boy outside to stop him from kicking or hitting his mother again.
According to a neighbour who witnessed the incident and reported it, the child was dressed in just a T-shirt and screamed that his feet hurt.
He has reportedly locked the boy out on “several other occasions”.
The father was found guilty of harassment by Umeå District Court and sentenced to 60 daily fines of 50 kronor (£4) each, according to local media.
He will also be forced to pay 5,500 kronor (£464) to his own child.
