From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The world-famous mixed martial artist is accused of attacking Desmond Keogh while promoting his brand of whisky on 6 April.
Flanked by security guards, the 31-year-old has appeared Dublin District Court in the Criminal Court of Justice.
Following a brief hearing, the judge remanded Mcgregor on bail until 1 November - when he will either contest the charge or enter a plea.
One of the most well known fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), McGregor has been out of the Octagon since October last year, when he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
After he was choked out by the Russian, a brawl ensued between both camps and both fighters were censured and fined by the organisation.
It remains unclear when McGregor will return. However the Irishman has hinted at a possible bout in December.
In a cryptic tweet posted last month, he wrote: “Dublin, December 14th”.
Some have suggested that he was referring to his comeback.
Were a fight to take place on that date it would be the first time that a UFC event had been held in his home country for four years.
