PHNOM PENH - The Khmer Rouge has demanded a dollars 50,000 (pounds 33,000) ransom in gold for three Westerners seized in a train ambush in southern Cambodia, the Co-Premier, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, said yesterday. One of the hostages, an Australian, David Wilson, wrote a letter saying the trio were safe and outlining the ransom demand. Mr Wilson, 29, together with a Briton, Mark Slater, 28 and a Frenchman, Jean Marie Braquet, were kidnapped on 26 July in the southern province of Kampot. AFP
