Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Peter Davies, who was in his 60s, was in a car park in the island's main city of Palma when the incident took place on Sunday.
He reportedly had a good relationship with his partner's ex-husband - believed to be Spanish - and sources said police are treating the collision as accidental.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national, Peter Davies, in Majorca on September 19.
"Next of kin are aware and we are providing consular assistance to the family."
Mr Davies had been lying on the ground near the entrance to the subterranean car park, where both men left their cars, when the vehicle ran him over.
He is believed to have fainted or fallen beforehand as a result of knee injuries he was suffering.
His partner's ex-husband described seeing a strange shape pass near him as he entered the car park, according to local press.
After the accident he reportedly ran out into the street to ask for help and flagged down a passing ambulance.
Mr Davies is understood to have been taken to Palma's Son Dureta hospital where he died a few hours later.
