A French family, – including four young children – taken hostage on the Cameroon-Nigeria border two months ago, has been released unharmed.
The release followed secret talks between the French, Nigerian and Cameroon governments and the extremist movement Boko Haram, which held the hostages in Nigeria.
It was not clear if any concessions had been made to the radicals, who had demanded the release of members held in Nigeria. The French President, François Hollande, insisted no money had changed hands.
