Maria Victoria Henao, wife of the fugitive Colombian drug boss Pablo Escobar, appealed for any country to grant her family asylum after being refused entry to Germany, AP reports from Bogota. 'Our lives are in danger in Colombia and we can't protect ourselves from our enemies,' she said in Bogota.
A group known as Los Pepes has accused Escobar of planning to kidnap relatives of politicians and soldiers as bargaining counters for his surrender negotiations. 'If he goes ahead with the plan . . . we will respond in kind,' the group said.
