Your support makes all the difference.HONG KONG (Reuter) - In a blistering attack in one of Peking's mouthpieces in Hong Kong, Wen Wei Po, China's top official responsible for the colony, Lu Ping, promised yesterday to fight Chris Patten, the Governor, to the end over his democracy plans.
'Should Patten go on doing it his own way, there will certainly be big chaos in Hong Kong,' the newspaper quoted Mr Lu as saying. 'I can tell everybody that we are now determined to persist with Mr Patten till the end if that's what he wants.' Despite his attack, the stock market yesterday recovered most of Monday's 200-point fall, caused by Mr Patten's acrimonious visit to Peking last week.
