Children at a feeding centre in Wajir, northern Kenya, run by a French organisation, Action International Against Hunger, which gives them flour, beans, oil and maize. The US intends starting daily airlifts of food into Somalia today, but officials said that the planes would not land if gunmen started shooting. The first flight will be to the central town of Beletuen, where 75 per cent of the 200,000 population are malnourished because of the civil war and the worst drought this century.
