Your support makes all the difference.LUSAKA (Reuter) - A Malawi court yesterday sentenced Chakufwa Chihana, the pro-democracy activist, to two years' imprisonment after finding him guilty of sedition. The Blantyre High Court convicted Mr Chihana, 52, a prominent opponent of Malawi's life president, Hastings Kamuzu Banda, on two counts of importing banned literature, an official of the pro-democracy Alliance for Democracy said.
Mr Chihana, a trade unionist, was acquitted on a third charge of being a threat to public security. The charge stemmed from statements he made last July in a BBC interview shortly after his release from detention over earlier sedition charges.
