Your support makes all the difference.LONDON (Reuter, AP) - The BBC, whose radio broadcasts used to be jammed by the Soviet Union, will use the former superpower's transmitters to beat Chinese efforts to keep it off the air. A deal to allow BBC World Service to be beamed to China via transmitters in Russia's Far East will begin this month. 'It will improve reception for millions of BBC listeners particularly in China, which is such an important audience for us,' said John Tusa, managing director of the World Service. Peking has been jamming BBC broadcasts since the crushing of China's pro-democracy protests in 1989.
Moldovan television has decided to sell three television towers with antennas that were used to jam foreign broadcasts to the former Soviet republic, a news agency said yesterday.
