ZOMBA - Malawi's ailing president, Kamuzu Banda,is no longer life-president following the scrapping of the long-cherished status by the country's deputies yesterday, AP reports. The title of life-president was dropped from the constitution in an overhaul of the text so that it becomes comparible with multi-party democracy before elections next May. Dropped with the life-presidency was a privilege which conferred powers on the title-holder to nominate MPs.
