Munich has banned a big pro- Kurdish demonstration planned for today, fearing the rally could turn violent like protests last month in Germany in which Kurds fought police and set themselves on fire, Reuter reports from Munich. The Mayor, Christian Ude, said city authorities had 'reliable information' that Kurdish militants seeking an independent homeland in Turkey planned to use the rally to stage acts of violence. Kurdish and German organisers denied the charges of violence.
