Your support makes all the difference.Former Australian Olympian swimmer Scott Miller, has been arrested following an investigation into a suspected two million Australian dollar (£1.1 million) drugs hall.
Mr Miller was arrested in a police raid on his home in a suburb of Sydney called Rozelle. Another man, aged 47, was also detained in the Balmain area of the city.
Allegations by New South Wales police suggest that the pair had hidden the substance methamphetamine inside candles.
According to a statement released by the New South Wales Police, officers located and seized approximately one kilogram of heroin, over $75,000 (about £54,000) cash, mobile phones, documents, electronic devices and smaller amounts of prohibited drugs. These have all been taken for further forensic examination.
Both men were taken to a police station after the raid on Tuesday morning but as yet, neither of the two have made any public comments on the latest developments.
A report by Nine News suggests that earlier this year, New South Wales detectives began an investigation into a suspected criminal syndicate involved in supplying drugs across the state.
It has also been suggested that Mr Miller was the director of a criminal gang. Police Detective Superintendent John Watson said: “Others, it will be alleged, are working under his instruction,” reported Nine News.
There were also reports that the two men may have been distributing drugs from Sydney to the wider state of New South Wales.
“This was not a small operation,” Mr Watson added. “They were well organised and well financed.”
Mr Miller, who is now 45, won a silver medal in the 1996 Olympic Games as well as a bronze in the Australian 4x100m relay team.
