A Chinese barber has reportedly stabbed a customer in the chest - for complaining about his haircut.

CCTV footage from the barber shop in Beijing apparently shows the hairdresser, named locally as Bao, picking up a pair of scissors before launching at the man who is reclined in a chair, plunging the shears into his chest.

The customer then jumps up and a scuffle ensues. Staff at the shop soon intervened and locked Bao in in a room, but he escaped through a window before police arrived.

The staff said that he had only been working in the shop for around four days when the incident happened, The Shanghaiist reports.

The victim suffered a punctured lung and required surgery, but is now recovering in hospital. Police have issued a call for Bao's arrest and are yet to find him.
