The UN has asked Indian forces cracking down on separatist protests in Kashmir to stop wearing the distinctive blue helmets of UN peacekeepers.

About 300 members of the Rapid Action Force, pictured, have been deployed in Kashmir since last week to quell unrest. Their use of UN equipment has perplexed many Kashmiris. "We've already informed the authorities," said a UN officer. "[They] have promised to solve this situation."
