Your support makes all the difference.A cargo plane with eight crew members has crashed close to Sri Lanka's international airport, killing six and wounding two others.
The AN-12 aircraft was coming from Bangkok and was about to land in bad weather when it crashed in the Kadirana area, near the airport. The Katunayake International Airport is 20 miles north of the capital, Colombo.
"Six of the crew members were dead on admission and two others are in a serious condition and are being operated upon," said Dr G.D. Silva at the Negombo Hospital.
She said that five of the dead were foreigners and other was a Sri Lankan. The nationalities of the victims were not made public, but generally Russian crew fly AN-12 flights to Colombo.
Meanwhile, Inspector of Police Mudith Nishantha who was at the accident site said several houses and vehicles in the area had been damaged in the crash.
He said that the wreckage was not on fire.
Officials at the Skycab company, which owns the aircraft were not immediately available for comment.
