A court has ordered the reopening of an investigation related to the killings of thousands of Sikhs following the assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi in 1984.
The judge ordered that the role of Jagdish Tytler, a senior member of the ruling Congress party, should be examined again even though two previous federal inquiries cleared him.
According to the Press Trust of India, Mr Tytler is accused of inciting a mob that murdered three men who had taken shelter at a Sikh temple.
Lakhwinder Singh, the widow of one of the men, argued that investigators had not recorded the testimonies of two key eyewitnesses.
