Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Jones was arrested last Thursday after the scuffle in Wiley's Tavern in the city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in the United States.
The 43-year-old former Wimbledon star, who appeared in films such as Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, was treated in hospital for cuts to his face.
Jones, who lives in Los Angeles, was believed to be in Sioux Falls on holiday with friends.
A spokesman for Sioux Falls Police Department said Jones was charged with simple assault and that another man, Jesse Bickett, was charged with aggravated assault.
Trouble broke out in the city centre bar at about 11.30pm on Thursday evening.
A friend of Mr Bickett, Juan Barrera, said they were playing pool when Jones asked to join in.
He said the star took offence when asked if he was "that guy from X-Men".
Mr Barrera, 24, told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader: "He got offended by that and he started pushing my other friends around. He said he's been in so many films or whatever."
Jones was arrested at a nearby hospital and was later released on bail.
The former footballer's no-nonsense playing style earned him a reputation as a hardman and also caps for the Welsh national side.
