Video shows truck flipping over after two-hour police chase that spanned two US states
The suspect was wanted in connection with an armed robbery
Helicopter footage from the USA shows the moment a two-hour police chase came to a dramatic end after a truck had evaded police across two states.
Robert Ritter had driven off from police during a traffic stop in Oaklyn, Camden County in New Jersey at 8pm on Monday.
The police had discovered that there was a warrant out for the driver of Mr Ritter's van following an armed robbery involving a shotgun. Reports suggest that witnesses identified Mr Ritter as the culprit.
Mr Ritter's white van sped away from police and headed into the state of Pennsylvania over the Walt Whitman bridge. The van then drove back into New Jersey and then back into Pennsylvania. It was in Southwest Philadelphia that the two-hour chase came to an end when a police car hit the van from behind, sending it spinning out of control and flipping over on its side.
Reports said that the suspect only received minor injuries in the crash and after a short stay at Mercy Hospital Mr Ritter was placed into police custody.
Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker told Action News: "He will be charged in Philadelphia with three counts of aggravated assault against the officers that he crashed into and then extradited eventually to New Jersey to face the robbery charges."
