Miraculously the reckless driver survived, but was soon arrested after leading the police on a 100 mile chase that saw him drive through four different counties.
The dramatic chase, which was captured by a television’s helicopter camera team, films the 4x4 as it reaches speeds in excess of 100mph travelling along the four lane motorway in Solano County in the San Francisco Bay Area.
At one point, police spikes were able to blow front left tyre of the 4x4 but the suspect continued to drive for several miles on three wheels.
In the footage from abc7, four police cars can be seen in hot pursuit as the car navigates its way along the hard shoulder.
Unable to control the car due to the exploded front tyre, the vehicle’s wheels are seen clipping a central reservation, causing the driver to lose control and the car to dramatically flipping multiple times before landing back on its wheels.
After lying stationary in the middle of the road, the driver is seen exiting the car with just cuts and bruises before several armed police arrest him.
According to abc7 News, the driver was taken to hospital following the crash as a precaution.
The Californian Highway Patrol said the driver will face felony charges and investigators are trying to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved at all.
