Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

The Democratic National Committee has released an ad calling Donald Trump “chicken” for refusing to commit to another presidential debate against Kamala Harris.

The former president has repeatedly claimed that he won the first debate and therefore there is no need for another. Few people outside of Magaworld share this assessment of their September 10 showdown.

In good news for team Trump, a new poll from The New York Times shows him leading in Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona by five points.

The poll, conducted from September 17-21, found the race is closest in North Carolina, where Trump currently sits at 49:47 percent against Harris. In Georgia, the poll puts Trump four points ahead 49:45 percent.

Trump has events scheduled in the the key battleground of Pennsylvania on Monday where the race appears tight. Harris will be there again on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ryan Routh, the man accused in the apparent assassination attempt of Trump at his Florida golf course, left behind a note saying that he intended to kill the former president and kept a handwritten list of dates and venues where Trump was to appear, the Department of Justice has revealed.

A court ruled he will be held without bail as the case progresses.

Voters say threat of political violence ‘greater if Trump is elected’ - poll

More than half of registered voters say the threat of political violence will be greater if Donald Trump is elected this November, according to a new poll.

While 58 percent of registered voters think the threat of political violence will be greater under Trump if he is elected, 21 percent say it will fall, a poll from CBS News released Sunday reveals. Another 21 percent say there will be no change.

Just over 40 percent of registered voters say the threat of political violence will be greater if current Vice President Kamala Harris is elected, while 27 percent say it will decrease and 30 percent expect it to stay the same, according to the poll.

Roughly 83 percent of Harris voters believe the threat of political violence will be greater under the former president, while 63 percent of Trump voters say it will rise under the vice president if she wins.

JD Vance called out for ‘lying’ over price of eggs

JD Vance has been called out for “lying” over the price of eggs while on the campaign trail over the weekend.

The Republican vice presidential nominee was at a supermarket in Reading, Pennsylvania to draw attention to the high cost of groceries due to “Harris’s policies”.

Holding a carton of eggs, he said: “Eggs, when Kamala Harris took office, were short of $1.50 a dozen. Now a dozen eggs will cost you around $4. Thanks to Kamala Harris’s inflationary policies, Pennsylvania actually has seen some of the worst grocery price increases of the entire nation, and again, it’s because she cast a deciding what vote on the inflation explosion act.”

However, eagle-eyed viewers spotted the $2.99 price tag on a carton of eggs directly behind the Ohio senator.

TV producer and film maker, Morgan J Freeman, said: “Even in their own damn photo, it shows JD Vance is lying about the price of eggs.”

North Carolina governor Mark Robinson sees campaign staff quit in droves

Embattled North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson is reportedly down to just a single-digit number of paid campaign staffers after the bulk of his team abandoned his bid for the governor’s office after a damaging CNN investigation.

Robinson was the focus of an investigation by the network’s KFile unit on Thursday.

A report published by CNN revealed an extensive history of comments made on a porn site called “Nude Africa” under an email address and username both known to be linked to him.

The comments, which touched on a wide range of topics, were outrageous and shocking — in one, he apparently referred to himself as a “Black Nazi.”

John Bowden has the story.

Alina Habba calls assassination attempts against Trump ‘embarrassment’ for Biden

Alina Habba, attorney for Donald Trump, called the two assassination attempts against him this summer an “embarrassment” for President Joe Biden’s administration.

“No president in this country, and I mean, no president, Republican or Democrat should be in this situation, not once, but twice,” Habba told Fox News.

“It’s an embarrassment to our country. It’s an embarrassment to President Trump,” she continued. “It’s an embarrassment frankly, to Harris and Biden, because they’re the ones in charge right now, and denying assets to a president and future, frankly, future president and the candidate that’s doing the best right now is a serious concern of mine.”

After the second attempt on Trump’s life earlier this month, Biden said the Secret Service “needs more help.”

“Thank God the president is okay,” Biden said last week. “But one thing I want to make clear — the Service needs more help.”

Harris surges ahead of Trump in latest national poll

A new national poll reveals Kamala Harris taking a clear lead for the first time, another sign the Democratic presidential candidate continues to enjoy an advantage in momentum over her opponent Donald Trump, with less than 50 days until the election.

An NBC News survey, published Sunday, shows Harris up five percentage points over Trump, boosted by what appears to be formerly undecided voters who had previously indicated they supported neither the Republican candidate nor his former opponent, Joe Biden.

The share of those so-called “double-haters” dropped from 12 percent in July to 7 percent in the September poll. Harris, meanwhile, has improved by six points from Biden’s standing in the July poll.

NBC’s last survey was released just a week before Biden announced that he was dropping out of the presidential race.

John Bowden reports.
