From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. President Donald Trump is becoming less popular among people who say Fox News is their most-trusted news network, according to new data from Suffolk University.

Between June and December, Mr Trump’s favourability rating dropped significantly from 90 per cent to 58 per cent among poll respondents who said they trust Fox over any other news network.

Over the course of the year, Suffolk has asked people to weigh in on their views of Mr Trump multiple times.

Mr Trump has often praised Fox News, probably because of its mostly positive coverage of him.

Meanwhile, he frequently criticises other media outlets, particularly CNN, calling them “fake news”.

Last month, he tweeted that “Fox News is MUCH more important” than CNN.

Among poll respondents who trust CNN the most, the second-most popular network, Mr Trump’s favorability rating has been consistently dismal, according to Suffolk.
