Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican nominee, says he’s voting for Texas Senator Ted Cruz in Utah’s caucuses.

Romney took to Facebook on Friday to separate front-runner Donald Trump from the rest of the Republican party. He denounced Trump by saying his campaign is built on “racism, misogyny, bigotry, xenophobia, vulgarity and, most recently, threats and violence."

Romney maintains that he is "repulsed" by these traits.

“The only path that remains to nominate a Republican rather than Mr. Trump is to have an open convention,” Romney writes. “At this stage, the only way we can reach an open convention is for Senator Cruz to be successful in as many of the remaining nominating elections as possible.”

Romney rounded off his endorsement of Cruz by admitting that while he likes Ohio Governor John Kasich, voting for him would ensure Trump’s nomination—and the end of the Republican party and the world as we know it, probably.

“I will vote for Senator Cruz and I encourage others to do so as well, so that we can have an open convention and nominate a Republican.”
