Your support makes all the difference.US first lady Melania Trump has reportedly been researching schools in Florida for her son Barron Trump to attend, as builders begin to make renovations to president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.
Sources close to the US president told People that he and his family are planning on moving down to his home atPalm Beach, Florida, when they are forced to leave the White House at the end of his term on 20 January.
“They are definitely renovating his apartment within the Mar-a-Lago Club to make it larger, more modern, and comfortable for his use,” one source told the magazine.
“Mar-a-Lago is iconic, a building he took great pride in renovating when he bought it,” the source added. “It makes sense that he wants to be there and will make the mansion his home.”
Ms Trump has reportedly also been looking at schools in the area for the couple’s 14-year-old son Barron to attend once the family has left the White House.
“They have looked all over Palm Beach County and neighbouring Broward County for just the right place,” a source close to the US first lady said.
“There are several options, and they will decide soon,” they added.
The family changed their primary address from Trump Tower in New York City to the residence in Florida last year, which is where they voted in 3 November’s election.
However, they are not expected to spend their whole time in Florida, as a White House source said that the Trump family “has many homes and they will be travelling between them.”
The couple also drew up plans last month to expand their property in Bedminster, New Jersey, according to Business Insider.
Although president-elect Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election last month, Mr Trump has yet to concede, despite officially launching the transition process.
The president and his campaign team have filed around 40 unsuccessful lawsuits in battleground states that Mr Biden won. The Trump team has so far provided no definitive evidence of any voting irregularities.
Speaking at a rally in Georgia on Saturday, Mr Trump claimed that if he thought he had lost the US election he would be “a very gracious loser”, adding: “I’d go to Florida … I’d take it easy.”
