Watch as Kamala Harris outlined her plans to promote manufacturing in the United States in a speech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday (25 September).

The vice president discussed proposed new incentives to boost domestic manufacturing at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh, a day after Donald Trump said he would seek to "take" factory jobs from other countries if he is re-elected to the White House.

The Democratic candidate talked about policies intended to build on her platform of homebuyer subsidies, small business tax breaks, and a federal ban on grocery price gouging.

Ms Harris also announced plans for “investing in American innovation and entrepreneurship” and making it easier for entrepreneurs to secure loans.

“Currently, for startup costs, the tax deduction is $5,000. Well, in 2024 it is almost impossible to start a business on $5,000 which is why as president, I will make the start-up deduction 10 times richer, and we will raise it from $5,000 to $50,000 tax deduction and provide low- and no-interest loans to small businesses that want to expand,” Ms Harrid added.
