From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

She joined joined a conference call with the National Prayer Team on Tuesday to encourage her husband Ted’s supporters not to lose hope in his political operation.
"I don't want you to feel like any of this was in vain,” she said, according to The Texas Tribune. “This doesn't always happen on the timing of man, and God does not work in four-year segments. So, we love you. Be full of faith and so full of joy that this team was chosen to fight a long battle.”
She continued: “It took 25 years to defeat slavery. That is a lot longer than four years.”
It’s unclear exactly where Heidi came up with the number, considering the Civil War lasted four years and slavery lasted for 250 years.
“We are full of energy,” she added. “We’re going to have a great vacation. We’re going to keep moving forward.”
