Trump and Harris polls tighten with days to go as former president sues CBS News for $10bn: 2024 election live updates

Trump lambasted Harris for saying that he wants to “end Obamacare,” which he and Congressional Republicans attempted to do several times during his presidency.

“We've come up with something better that will be great, and everybody wants that because Obamacare sort of sucks. It's too expensive for the people,” Trump said.

The former president responded to Biden seemingly calling Trump supporters “garbage.”

“Two days ago, Joe Biden called our supporters garbage, you’re garbage. He called you garbage. He called all of us garbage,” Trump said in New Mexico. “I remember the word ‘deplorable.’ You remember the word. How did that work out Hillary? Not too good. But they mean it, even though, without question, my supporters are of far higher quality, and I think much smarter than crooked Joe or lyin’ Kamala.”

“For the past nine years, Kamala and her party have called us racist bigots, fascists, deplorables, irredeemable Nazis, and they called me Hitler. I'm Hitler. That's what they say,” he added. “They bullied you, they've demeaned you, they've demonized us. They've censored us, de-platformed us, and weaponized the power of our government against their political opponent – me.”

Trump claimed that the US is “picking up” China’s “garbage” as he blasted green policies.

“We're out there nice clean air, but the air from China blows over our country every three and a half to four days, and when they dump their garbage into the ocean, it floats on by in the Pacific, it floats on by Los Angeles. It's a lovely sight to see,” Trump said.

As a doctor appeared to deal with a medical emergency in the crowd, the audience chanted “USA” and “God Bless Trump.”

The former president then requested that his team play God Bless America, but the team played Trump’s intro song God Bless the USA instead.

Trump played a video showing a mother speaking about the murder of her 12-year-old daughter, blaming Kamala Harris and Democratic border policies.

“There are hundreds and even thousands of cases like that, and it's people coming into this country that are horrible people, horrible people, I don't like saying that, but they're horrible people,” Trump said. “And they come in totally unvetted, totally unchecked through this ridiculous open border policy that she and the radical left have.”

Trump conducted an impromptu “poll” during his New Mexico rally about whether Hispanic people prefer the term Latino.

The crowd at the rally strongly showed their preference for the term Hispanic.

Trump appeared to attempt to improve his relationship with Hispanic voters, showering them with praise, after several speakers at his Sunday event at Madison Square Garden made denigrating comments about the group, including one calling Puerto Rico an “island of floating garbage.”
