From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The President-elect's team has asked the White House to explore the unprecedented measure, according to a source quoted by CBS News.
It would mean non-political and unelected individuals would have access to top secret information.
It also follows Mr Trump’s relentless attacks aimed at Hillary Clinton over her 30,490 work emails on her private server.
Monday’s CBS source claims Mr Trump can put in his own request for the security clearances, for Ivanka, Eric, Donald Jr. and son-in-law Jared Kushner, once he becomes president.
If successful, the four would reportedly have to fill out Standard Form 86, the questionnaire for national security positions.
Mr Trump’s children, who along with Mr Kushner are part of his 16-member transition team, have all stated they will not hold formal roles in the government.
Ivanka told CBS News: “I’m going to be a daughter. But I’ve said throughout the campaign that I am very passionate about certain issues.
“And that I want to fight them.”
Earlier this week, Mr Trump said he will deport up to three million undocumented immigrants immediately.
The Independent has contacted Mr Trump's team for comment.
