President Donald Trump has said the race for Democratic National Committee chair was rigged for Hillary Clinton.

Mr Trump tweeted to say the race was "rigged" after Tom Perez was selected as the DNC's new chairman.

"The race for DNC Chairman was, of course, totally "rigged." Mr Trump tweeted. "Bernie's guy, like Bernie himself, never had a chance. Clinton demanded Perez!"

Yesterday, Mr Trump tweeted to congratulate Mr Perez, adding: "I could not be happier for him, or for the Republican Party!"

Mr Perez gained 235 votes out of 447 from the DNC.

The former Labour Secretary said: “We are suffering from a crisis of confidence, a crisis of relevance."

He called on Democrats to fight "the worst president in the history of the United States," adding: "We are all in this together."

Ms Clinton also voiced her support for Mr Perez.
