From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Following her unexpected performance at the Country Music Awards, Beyoncé will be making another surprise appearance this week, this time, she’ll be joining her husband Jay Z in Ohio to campaign for Hillary Clinton.

The pop megastar is expected to perform at a free concert at Cleveland State University on Friday in an effort to impress millennials and African-American voters, sources close to the event told CBS News. Beyoncé is apparently joining some of the biggest names in entertainment who support Ms Clinton including Katy Perry, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, and Kim Kardashian.

The Democratic nominee will need a significant push in the swing state to defeat her Republican rival Donald Trump. According to FiveThirtyEight, Mr Trump has a 66.6% chance of winning the state.

Ms Clinton previously expressed how much she enjoys Beyoncé’s latest album, Lemonade, and earlier this year, the nation’s sitting president, Barack Obama, said that the superstar is the most powerful person in the world.
