Donald Trump on Thursday tore into Kamala Harris and other Democrats, saying the presumptive vice presidential nominee is a “mad woman” and claiming her party wants to get rid of “any kind of animals” and tear down New York’s famed Empire State Building.

The president, trailing Joe Biden in national polls and ones in most key swing states, contended in a Fox Business interview that Democrats want to rip down the iconic building and replace it with a new one featuring “no windows.” He also said the party’s “Green New Deal” calls for “no cows,” before making his claim that all Democrats want to abolish all animals.

He also repeated his claim that, before the coronavirus outbreak, the economy was so strong George Washington, the country’s first president, would have been unable to defeat him. The president called Mr Biden and Ms Harris “big taxers,” claiming they are proposing what amounts to a $4trn tax hike.

“He is going to give ... massive tax increases to pay for AOC’s plan,” he said, referring to freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whom he dubbed a “poor student” and “not even a smart person” his latest attack on a female critic.

A few minutes later, the president lashed out at Speaker Nancy Pelosi, predicting Republicans would take back the House because she is “stone-cold crazy.”

The president again on Thursday morning tried painting the Democratic ticket as “radical” and far to the left ideologically.

“It’s amazing Sleepy Joe buys into it,” he said of proposals like the progressive “Green New Deal.”

“And now you have a mad woman. Such hatred for Judge Kavanaugh,” he said, referring to Ms Harris’ sharp exchanges with now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings.

He dubbed Democrats “angry because I beat them” in 2016.

The president again described Mr Biden, who is 77, as mentally hindered, saying, the former VP “doesn’t even know he’s alive.”

That came one day after Mr Biden harshly criticised the president’s leadership abilities and handling of the coronavirus outbreak.
