Trump supporters not wearing masks scream at Telemundo reporter outside Arizona count

A group of Trump supporters not wearing face masks screamed at a Telemundo reporter outside of Arizona's ballot tabulation centre on Friday night, as tensions rose across the US.

The Associated Press, alongside Fox News, called Arizona for Democratic candidate Joe Biden on Wednesday, but as mail-in-votes were counted, Donald Trump closed the gap in the state and the Trump campaign repeatedly claimed that he might still win, while his supporters protested outside the election centre in Maricopa County, Arizona, for three days following baseless claims from Mr Trump that widespread fraud had taken place.

On Friday evening, Local ABC15 Arizona reporter Zach Crenshaw tweeted footage and photos from outside the count, which showed Trump supporters shouting at Telemundo reporter Maria Paula Ochoa.

Mr Crenshaw captioned the video footage: “Night three outside the Maricopa Co tabulation center: It’s more tense tonight. These two men were screaming at a Telemundo reporter while she reported live.

“When a security agent prevented ‘red shirt’ from getting inches from her face, both started yelling ‘assault.'”

Mr Crenshaw’s footage shows Ms Ochoa surrounded by a group of protesters not wearing face masks, repeatedly chanting baseless allegations about Mr Biden in her face.

After a security guard attempts to remove the protesters away from the journalist, one of the Trump supporters shouts “assault” as others call for police to help.

Ms Ochoa continues to record her broadcast, as several Trump supporters shout at her, while standing within a few inches from the journalist’s face.

When the broadcast went back to the studio, the Telemundo anchors looked concerned for Ms Ochoa, according to The Hill.

Later on Friday, Ms Ochoa responded to Mr Crenshaw on Twitter, writing: “Precise facts Zach, thank you very much.”

That incident was not the only heated moment captured on Friday night, as tense standoffs took place in several states across the US, prior to the election being called for Democrat Joe Biden.

At least 100 supporters of President Trump gathered outside the elections centre in Arizona, chanting: “Arrest the poll workers!” The protesters were kept away from the poll workers in a “free speech” zone.

Outside Detroit’s convention centre, where the city’s remaining ballots were still being counted, dozens of Trump supporters shouted “Stop the Steal!” while some carried signs that read: “We Love Trump.”

Anti-Trump protesters shouted “No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA” at an election warehouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, while police in riot gear were deployed to the so-called “stop the steal” rally at the city’s main government building.

Several armed Trump supporters also gathered at vote-tabulation centres in cities across the US on Friday, in response to Mr Trump baselessly claiming that Democrats were attempting to steal the election.

Although Mr Biden was declared the winner of the US election on Saturday, protests are likely to continue today, as workers continue to tally the remaining ballots in several states including Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.
