On Tuesday, President Trump told reporters in Arlington, Virginia, that he has not yet thought about a concession speech for if he loses the presidential election to Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
When asked by a reporter if he had written either an acceptance or concession speech, Mr Trump replied: “No, I’m not thinking about concession speech or acceptance speech yet.
“Hopefully we’ll be doing only one of those two, and you know, winning is easy, losing is never easy. Not for me it’s not.”
President Trump was in Virginia, visiting campaign workers at the RNC Annex, alongside several of his senior staff, including his son-in-law Jared Kushner and White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
Mr Trump concluded speaking to reporters by mentioning the campaign workers, saying: “This group has been with me - a lot of them are very young, but they’ve been with me, many of them for a long time.
“I really came here to thank you all, and then I’m gonna say: And get immediately back to work!”
President Trump has repeatedly refused to commit to accept the result of 3 November’s national election, as he has falsely claimed that mail-in-voting will lead to widespread fraud.
In an interview in July, he said without evidence that he might not accept a losing result in November’s election, because “mail-in voting is going to rig” it, and added at a rally later in the year: “I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election if I win.”
Mr Biden has been leading Mr Trump in national polls and in key battleground states for months, but the president has claimed that polls that show him losing to the former vice president are “fake news”.
Axios reported on Sunday that if President Trump is leading when votes start being counted on Tuesday night, that he will declare victory early.
However, when he was asked about the report, Mr Trump denied the claims.
“That was a false report,” he said. “I think it's terrible when we can't know the results of an election the night of the election in a modern day age of computers,” the president added.
During an appearance on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, President Trump reiterated those claims, saying that he will “declare victory only when there's victory.”
