From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Greta Thunberg is cleverly using Donald Trump's own words against him.
On Thursday afternoon, with Mr Trump raging on Twitter about unfounded allegations of voter fraud, Ms Thunberg tweeted in reply to the president's "STOP THE COUNT!" rant.
"So ridiculous. Donald must work on his Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Donald, Chill!" the 17-year-old activist wrote.
If those words look familiar, it's because Mr Trump tweeted the same message to the Swedish teen back in December 2019. At the time, the president mocked Ms Thunberg after she was announced Time magazine's person of the year, calling the honour "so ridiculous."
At the time, Ms Thunberg jabbed back at the president's attack by updating her Twitter bio to read, "A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend."
This week is an especially poignant time for Ms Thunberg to dish up her revenge on Mr Trump after the US’s formal exit from the Paris climate agreement on Wednesday. Last month, Ms Thunberg pledged her support to Mr Trump's opponent Joe Biden, who has vowed to return the US to the global climate pact if he wins the White House.
