Fox News hosts lashed out at Democrats over the weekend for telling Donald Trump to concede the 2020 US election.

President-elect Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election more than a week ago, but Mr Trump has still not conceded, and has repeatedly falsely claimed that there was widespread voter fraud in multiple swing states.

On Saturday evening, Fox News host Jeanine Pirro started her show, Justice with Judge Jeanine, by criticising Democrats for saying that Mr Trump should concede the election, citing his unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.

“We are criticised because we are asking questions,” she said. “Under the cover of Covid, rules were changed, providing opportunities for wrongdoers.

“Covid cannot be used to run herd on our constitution. Covid is not a prophylactic that prevents us from exercising our constitutional fundamental right to vote. And Joe Biden, he had his own view of the opportunity it presented,” Pirro falsely claimed on Saturday evening.

Democratic officials urged people to vote by mail this year because of fears of long queues forming on election day, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. President Trump repeatedly falsely claimed mail-in-voting would lead to widespread fraud.

In reaction to the election result, the Trump campaign issued lawsuits in several states, but there is no evidence to back up its claims of voter fraud.

The host’s comments came hours after thousands of Trump supporters marched through the streets of Washington, DC, to show their support for the president.

“We'll pursue all legal avenues where there are irregularities, anomalies, illegalities and corruptions, and until the certification and the electors vote, that is not a lot to ask,” Pirro said on Saturday.

She added: “So don't you dare ask us to just accept it and move on, and don't you dare tell me I'm being un-American by questioning what even a Supreme Court justice has put a hold on.

“And don't you dare ask us to go quietly into the night.”

President Trump retweeted five clips of Pirro’s Saturday evening show. He later admitted that Mr Biden had won the election, but then falsely claimed that was only the case because it was “rigged” and added: “I concede NOTHING!”

Pirro was not the only Fox News presenter to criticise Democrats over the weekend, as Mark Levin took a swipe at former President Barack Obama, telling him not to “lecture us”.

“Before we get started this evening, I want to make a comment,” Levin began his show, Life, Liberty & Levin, on Sunday.

“I watched this clip of Barack Obama on 60 Minutes where he is attacking the President of the United States and believes these challenges that are taking place in the states are undermining democracy,” he continued.

“I want to say something to President Obama and the other so-called iconic figures in our republic, Republican and Democrat: Don’t you damn lecture us,” Levin added.

Mr Obama told CBS’ 60 Minutes over the weekend that President Trump should have conceded to Mr Biden “the day after the election”.

“When your time is up then it's your job to put the country first and think beyond your own ego and your own interests, and your own disappointments,” the former president said.

He added: “My advice to President Trump is, if you want at this late stage in the game to be remembered as somebody who put country first, it's time for you to do the same thing.”
