Donald Trump posted a last-minute campaign video of him dancing to YMCA as Americans head to the polls to determine the next leader of the country.

The video appeared on Mr Trump’s Twitter account with the tagline ‘VOTE VOTE VOTE’ and sees the incumbent swaying in time with the popular Village People classic at various locations across the US.

Mr Trump has regularly used the '70s disco song to close out his rallies during his 2020 re-election campaign, despite the band asking them not to use their hit tune.

In the two minute and twelve second clip, the president engages in fist pumping and points to a vast throng of supporters.

The song is popular at sporting events across the country and is widely considered to be an LGBT+ anthem.

Mr Trump has also been using Village People classic ‘Macho Man’ to close out his raucous campaign rallies.

The last-minute video was posted as Americans head to the polls today to choose between Mr Trump and Democrat challenger Joe Biden.

Almost 100 million people have already voted, with polling stations expected to be busy all day amid expectations the election turnout could be the highest in US history.

Mr Biden is the favourite to win the election, having enjoyed a comfortable lead in nationwide opinion polls for several months, but must win a number of key battleground states to make it to the White House.

The polling in 2016 suggested that Hilary Clinton would secure victory, but Mr Trump managed to win.
