Hayley King, 22, appeared in court on Monday charged with unlawful, malicious tampering with food products after police were shown the footage.
Recorded on 4 February by a hidden camera in the kitchen, it shows her appearing to open different containers in the fridge, spit in them and stir the food before putting it back in its place.
She then finds a bottle of blue Windex cleaner and appears to spray it into the fridge and pour some on to food.
King, a student at the University of South Carolina, was arrested on 2 February and charged her with the class C felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
A Columbia Police Department report seen by WIS TV states that King and her roommates had “multiple altercations” in the weeks before the alleged incident.
The women told police they had been trying to get King to move out but she refused to leave
King's roommates claimed they were worried about what she would do when they were out, so they set up hidden cameras inside the home.
They reported her after one of the women allegedly ate some of the food that had window cleaner and spit in it and King “confessed to the incident” during a recorded interview, police said.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for June, ABC News reported.
