Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Being invited to the White House might be a lifetime ambition for some - but not for others.

In fact, for toddler Claudia, having to hang out with US president Barack Obama, his wife and First Lady Michelle Obama, and a host of other VIPs at Passover was, quite literally, the worst thing ever.

Her mother, US journalist and author Laura Moser, posted a snap of the adorable tot to Twitter showing her in the midst of what looked like an epic tantrum - in full view of the POTUS.

To give the president credit, he seemed to take it all in his stride, gesturing to the wailing child with both hands as if to say, "Yep, this is what I get every day."

And that might not be far from the truth - for Mr Obama has two daughters of his own, Malia and Sasha, who have also been caught out on camera acting, well, exactly like children.

It's also not the first time that one of the most powerful men in the world has been trumped by the behaviour of a small person.

In September, the son of a departing US Secret Service agent who came to the White House with his mum and dad to meet the president, face-planted into a sofa at the Oval Office.

The candid shot was later posted on the White House Flickr photostream.
