Officials from the Bryan Police Department identified the victims on Tuesday as 54-year-old David Walker, 51-year-old Tamara Walker and their daughter, 21-year-old Victoria Walker, of Farmersville, Texas.
The fourth occupant of the plane was later identified as Luke Armstrong, who is a Texas A&M University student and Victoria’s long-term boyfriend, according to KBTX.
Bryan city spokesperson Kristen Waggener confirmed that Mr Armstrong survived the crash, and was transported to the St Joseph Regional Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told CNN that the incident occurred at around 2.30pm on Sunday at Coulter Airfield, and confirmed that responding police officers found the wreckage of the plane at the south end of the runway.
The parents had another daughter, Madeline Walker, who was not involved in the incident, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help her pay for the funeral costs, which has already raised more than $21,000 (£15,759).
Family friend David Hargrave told KBTX that the incident occurred on Sunday, after the 21-year-old’s parents visited her in Bryan to show her their new plane.
“David had just purchased the plane a couple weeks ago with a friend of his and he’d had his licence for years and years, and so, they went down there to see Vic, and they went up for a little recreation flight,” Mr Hargrave said.
He added: “I don’t know if the accident happened coming down or going back up, but yeah, they went down there to see Vic and so she could see the plane. She was excited to see dad’s new wings.”
The incident is being investigated by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
