A man suspected of beating a number of homeless men to death in Los Angeles has admitted killing his own aunt and uncle.

Ramon Alberto Escobar, 47, confessed to killing Dina Escobar and her brother Rogelio Escobar.

The pair went missing in September and their bodies have never been found.

Houston police said Escobar confessed to killing his relatives after Houston detectives questioned him about their disappearance during an interview at a Los Angeles county jail.

He was charged with capital murder on Tuesday.

Four of the men died.

Online jail records do not indicate whether Escobar has an attorney.
