Your support makes all the difference.Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has been interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, as part of an ongoing investigation into possible Trump team collusion with Russia during the presidential election.
Mr Spicer served as White House Press Secretary until August, and as communications director for the Republican National Committee before that. His interview with members of Mr Mueller’s team lasted for most of the day, according to Politico, which first reported the news.
Mr Mueller’s team questioned the former Press Secretary about the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, his statements regarding the firing, and Donald Trump’s meetings with Russian officials, a source with knowledge of the meeting told Politico.
Mr Spicer has been tight-lipped about the Russia probe since leaving the White House, telling ABC News’ Paula Faris that he was “not going to discuss that issue at all”.
But Axios recently unearthed evidence that Mr Spicer kept detailed notes of his time on the Trump campaign, and in the White House. Former colleagues of Mr Spicer told the outlet he kept “notebook after notebook” during meetings, and “documented everything”.
When asked about the notebooks, Mr Spicer threatened to report the journalist for harassment.
Mr Mueller’s team has also recently interviewed former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, and former interim national security adviser Keith Kellogg. They are reportedly looking to interview White House lawyer Don McGahn, and Communications Director Hope Hicks as well.
Topics of interest include former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who left the White House after it was revealed that he had misrepresented his conversations with Russian officials to the Vice President and others. Mr Mueller is also said to be interested in the misleading statement issued by Donald Trump Jr regarding his meeting with Russians last summer.
Mr Mueller was appointed by the Department of Justice to oversee its investigation into Russian meddling in the US election.
