Your support makes all the difference.Toronto mayor Rob Ford faces yet another storm of controversy, following allegations by his staff that he may have consorted with a possible sex worker and taken the narcotic Oxycontin, just weeks after he admitted to smoking crack-cocaine.
The claims were made in a 500-page document released by an Ontario judge on Wednesday. The document comes from a police investigation into Mr Ford and contains months’ worth of allegations yet to be proved in court against the mayor.
It includes claims made by his former staffers that he consumed Oxycontin, a pain killer, consorted with sex workers, drove under the influence and instructed staff to buy him alcohol.
One staffer described allegedly watching Mr Ford drink a bottle of vodka before driving off, according to the Globe and Mail.
Another alleges a woman he believed was a sex worker attended a party held by a mayor on St Patrick' Day in 2012 at his City Hall office, according to AFP, and added that there had been rumours Mr Ford “had used escorts or prostitutes”.
At the same party, a food runner alleged he saw Mr Ford and another woman "turned in towards each other with their heads down and back from the table and he heard two sniffs from both of them."
Later that night, a third staffer then claimed he saw Mr Ford consume an OxyContin pill.
The allegations come after Mr Ford admitted taking illegal drugs on Wednesday. During a heated debate at the City Council he said that he bought illegal drugs while in office, but adamantly refused to step down despite calls from nearly every councilor to take a leave of absence and get help, insisting he was “a positive role model for kids.”
His admission came under questioning by a former ally, Councilor Denzil Minnan-Wong. Ford publicly acknowledged last week that he smoked crack cocaine while in a “drunken stupor” last year, but his comments Wednesday marked the first time he admitted buying illegal drugs.
