According to police, a Walmart employee noticed urine on the floor and notified a store guard, who watched CCTV footage and saw a woman peeing on produce.
The store “immediately disposed of the affected products and sanitised the area,” a spokesperson for Walmart said, adding that the “safety of our customers is a top priority for us”.
After police shared images of the suspect online, Grace Brown, 20, turned up at a police station in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, where she reportedly identified herself as the suspect.
She is facing multiple charges for the 24 July incident at the West Mifflin store, including criminal mischief, open lewdness, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
She has a past criminal record for alcohol-related charges, according to local news station KDKA.
According to KDKA, after turning herself in, Brown was interviewed by investigators but has not yet been charged.
The case comes after a series of incidents in which people have been recorded contaminating food in supermarkets.
The incident, which required the removal of all Blue Bell half-gallon containers of “Tin Roof”, also took place at a Walmart.
