Redmond O'Neal, 23, is serving three years of probation after pleading guilty in June to drug possession charges.
Police suspect both men had methamphetamine, but the substances still need to be tested. They were taken into custody, booked and then released on $10,000 (£5,500) bail each. Ryan O'Neal and his son could be charged with possession of narcotics. Redmond, 23, is his son from a relationship with actress Farrah Fawcett.
