Assistant Chief of Police Steve Dolunt told the outlet that the pastor felt threatened by the man.
“We will submit an investigators report to the prosecutor to make a determination as to what to charge or not,” he said. “Not sure exactly sure what about but it was enough that the pastor felt threatened, and the individual was angry enough to go after the pastor in church.”
Officer Jennifer Moreno told the Detroit News that the pastor had been cooperating with authorities and was never placed in custody. The paper reported anonymous police sources who said there was a possible love triangle between Mr Smith, his wife and the pastor whose identity has not been released.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
